1. Who we are
Sherpa Atlas is published by Ganiz Holding Company, LLC ("we", "us"), the company behind Global Infrastructure Sherpa. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Sherpa Atlas at sherpaatlas.com, and what we do with it.
2. What we collect
- Account: your name and email address when you create an account or sign in.
- Trial requests: your name, company, email address and any message you send with the request.
- Subscriptions: your name, email address and billing address, what you subscribe to, and payment status. Your card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Emails: what you write to us and what we write to you.
- Activity on the map: visits and the main clicks on the map (such as opening a layer, a tab or the free demo, choosing the satellite view or power lines, clicking to buy or to sign in), with the time and the country and city our host derives from the connection. If you are signed in, this is linked to your email address; if you arrived through a guest link, to that link. Anonymous visitors are recorded without their name and without their IP address; each visit gets a random number, kept only in that browser tab and gone when it closes, so the steps of one visit can be seen together. We also mark visits that look automated (such as search-engine crawlers and link previews) so they can be left out of our figures.
- Guest links: when someone opens a guest link we have shared, we record the time, the IP address, the approximate location derived from it (city, region, country) and the browser type, so we can see that the link was used and stop misuse. We may receive this by email when it happens.
- Technical information: the information your browser sends to load the site (such as IP address and browser type), held briefly by our hosting and map providers to run the site and keep it secure.
3. How we use it
- To give you access to the layers you have a trial of or subscribe to.
- To take payments, send invoices and manage your subscription.
- To answer your questions and tell you about your account, trial or subscription.
- To understand how the map is used and improve it, and to follow up on interest from signed-in users and guest links.
- To keep the Service secure and prevent misuse.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use advertising cookies.
4. Who processes it for us
We use these providers, each only for the service named:
- Clerk: sign-in and accounts
- Stripe: payments and invoices
- Resend: sending email
- Supabase: our database
- Vercel: hosting the site
- OpenFreeMap: map tiles
- Esri: satellite pictures, terrain shading and ground heights, loaded by your browser when you use them
- EOX: satellite pictures, loaded by your browser when Esri's are not available
- Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd): measuring how the site is used, only if you accept its cookies; measurement data is kept for 2 months
Some of them process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where information leaves the EU or the UK, it is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (for certified providers such as Google) or by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
5. Cookies
We use the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to make the site work. If you agree, we also use Google Analytics cookies to measure how the site is used: which pages are viewed, roughly from which country, and on what kind of device. This measurement does not identify you by name, and Google Analytics does not store your IP address. Nothing is set until you accept; declining has no effect on the site. You can change your choice at any time under "Cookie settings" on the map, and declining removes the Analytics cookies. We do not use cookies for advertising.
The site also remembers a few choices in your browser's own storage, such as your cart and whether you prefer the satellite view, power lines or terrain. This stays on your device and is not sent to us.
6. How long we keep it
We keep account and subscription information while your account is open, and billing records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Trial requests that do not lead to a subscription are deleted after two years. You can ask us at any time to delete the activity and guest-link records described above.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Write to us at the address below. If you are in the EU or the UK, you may also complain to your data-protection authority.
8. Children
Sherpa Atlas is a business service and is not meant for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with its date and, for material changes, tell account holders by email.
