Grid connection queues: who is waiting to connect, and where
A substation can look free on a map and still be fully booked. Sherpa Atlas shows the connection requests and reservations that grid operators publish, the projects waiting to connect, by type, MW and status, at the substation where they wait.
What the map shows
Connection queues, with everything that decides a project around them
Requests by type
Data centres, other large loads, and generation and storage, shown apart.
MW and status
Requested, reserved or connected capacity, as the operator publishes it.
The holder
Who is in the queue, where the operator names them.
The substation
Each request on the substation it is waiting for, with that substation’s published status.

Questions
The connection queue map: questions
What is a grid connection queue?
The list of projects that have asked a grid operator to connect, or have capacity reserved, and are waiting. Sherpa Atlas maps the queues operators publish, by substation.
Where does the data come from?
Every record carries its sources and the date it was last checked: grid operators, regulators and governments, planning authorities, company announcements and the press. Nothing is estimated where a figure has been published; where no figure is published, the record says so.
